Jane will always be remembered as a very gentle person, kind to all. She gave her all to the Girls Service League, Inc helping young women who were eager to go to college. I was fortunate to know her during that time. May she rest in peace in the arms of the Savior.

I always associate Jane with beautiful iris flowers. I babysat for David and Jeffrey when the Harakals lived in Park Hill. I could crawl over the wall from my house, and walk a few houses down. I remember the lovely beds of flowers, that both Harakal parents were interesting and kind, and that David and Jeffrey were well behaved -- a babysitter's dream! My love and good thoughts to your family.

Aunt Jane definitely enjoyed life. She spent her life passionately being a part of church, flowers, antiques, singing, loving (and bragging about) her family and so much more. I always enjoyed her visits to Mt Blanchard. She was my biggest connection to mom. My parents loved it when Uncle John and Aunt Jane and then Aunt Jane would visit. Mt Blanchard came alive during those visits and I will always cherish that time we had together. I also loved the Aunt and niece relationship we shared. My love to all of you that she loved most in the world. May her spirit dwell within you and may her good works continue in the generations to come. May God grant you comfort at this time of grief.

What a great brother you were. Thankful for the many times you drove my friends and I to the Arlington Theater and often picked me up from school in that Fairlane Ford. Thankful for the time I won an award at Homecoming and you, Bob, were standing at the gate waiting for me to give me a hug as I walked off the football field. It was nice to see your smile! Thankful for the times you checked out my dates for approval before I went out with them. Thankful for the times you would let Bonnie and I hang out with you at Lucas Swimming Pool we were so proud to be your sisters...especially when you would dive off the high diving board!...Sandra felt the same! Thank you for being a great brother-in-law to Walt....and calling him this year to remind him to watch the Super Bowl (he did watch it & he had not watched one in years! He did so because you encouraged him to do that!).Thank you for the calls every single year to wish Walt and I a Merry Christmas! And IF Bonnie were here....she was so so glad that you, Bob, walked her down the aisle at her wedding....while Dad was in the hospital and couldn't! Thankful to have Bob McLellan Jr. for my brother....the teachers at AHS always would ask me each year "Are you related to the McLellan brothers?" And I replied "Yes, I am." You made mine & my siblings younger years more fun and more doable! love and will miss knowing you are not "here" but instead "there" with family members you loved lots.

As sad as I am to hear that Al has passed, I know he is having an awesome homecoming with so many of our parents. One more glorious HPBC reunion. My husband and I both were saying we’ve never not known him. Charlie was often in his Sunday school class and my family was blessed to have him in our lives. Mom and dad (Shirley & EF Smith) were already living at Lake Granbury when the Christensens moved there and all attended Lakeside Baptist. When my Aunt Elaine moved next door to my parents after my uncle passed away Al took her under his wing as well. When my parents moved back near me Al would drive Aunt Elaine to and from church whenever it was dark. He’s always been such a special person, truly a Godly man. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family and all who love him.

Curtis and Cassie Hammond posted on 12/14/20

I have had the privilege of working beside Mr. Al in a lot of areas of the church but my favorite memory isn’t that. The memory of him that sticks with me the most is his devotion to his wife and family. Linda had moved to help them but he was the one that would bring her lunch to the church office. He always came in with his little shuffle and grin, taking care of his “girl”. He just beamed while he served, anyone.

I am so very sad to hear of the loss of this sweet lady. Aunt Melrie was my Papa Bill's sister and was always an extremely lovely, genuine, joyful person to be around. I remember visiting her, Uncle Rudy and Rudy Louis at the river and it being some of my favorite memories. We would catch baby softshells on the banks of the Brazos, swim in and tube down the river and Uncle Rudy and Aunt Melrie would share their homemade pickles with us. I loved them very much even though we didn't get to see them often. They were such wonderful, happy people. God bless them in rest and bless all of their family who will miss them now. Aunt Melrie, you were always one of my favorite people.

My thoughts and prayers to the Matthews and Browne families. Cousin Christi allowed me to come to Texas during the Summer. I even got baptized at her church and became part of the Youth Group. Then we met in Las Vegas with my Grandparents the following year. Thank you for being patient and taking your time to help a teenager search out religion during a rough time. Christi's kindness and teachings have stayed with me to the age of 42 and carried me through some times as a medic and now being a nurse. It is because of kindness from people like Christi that people like myself are given a detour to a better direction in life. And I truly thank her for the blessings she brought upon my life. Fly high cousin. An angel on Earth and now in Heaven. -Kerrin Richter

Everyone said I was spoiling you and I said “GOOD!” I loved how we talked about spending the summers on the beach and only letting mommy and daddy come down on the weekends, because someone had to work,... lol! We were new to the Sunday school class that Louise attended. Her statements during the discussions always impressed me. One day after class I commented to her, “You’re my kind!” She smiled and responded, “I don’t know what kind you are.” That was true! As our friendship grew I began to realize I should have said, “You are the kind I want to be!” She always thought before she spoke, and refused to blindly follow the conversation’s trend. I admired her very much.

She loved her cousins dearly and I knew when Nan had been with them as the twinkle in her eyes was brighter and the weight of the world had lifted off her shoulders. What a joy to have been with her from childhood to her passing. I shall miss my dear friend and my love for who she was will be held in my heart. She delighted anyone who met her. I think this scripture speaks well of Nan. Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing, for we shall reap, if we faint not. Nan fought the good fight to the end. Bless you dearest Nan.

Dear Family, It is with great sadness we mourn the lost of our dear Mary, your Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and a dear twin sister. Yet, a great joy to have had her in our lives for as long as we did. Mary was an anchor of strength, the voice of reason and the speaker of the truth, sometimes the hard truth. She was the keeper of memories, the teller of family lore. The one person you could count on to remember the details of the life we shared and the current news of our family, friends and Quanah. Of course, gathering those memories could only be culled in short spurts for Mary did not have time for long conversations she was too busy having fun and fellowship. Her quick brilliant mind was concise and to the point. I'm proud to have been part of her life but even more thankful to have had her as a friend and confidant. This was something which grew over time. We were big girls in a small world. She brought so much joy to so many people and told it like it was when she had to and through it all she did it her Way. Mary gave me advice on aging which I have shared many a time since. She said, "Have everything that aches repaired while your in your sixties then slide right into your eighties." She had a wonderful sense of humor, sort of on the dry side but when she laughed it was joyful. She had a radiating reverence about her which left no doubt to any of us she had a straight line to God's head office. That's what made her having the only red toilet in Quanah Texas so devilishly hilarious. When asked how it came to be, she just smiled and lifted her shoulders saying, "It was the only one they had." Thank you Mary for all the sweet memories, the wonderful family you created & nurtured, and the Joy you gave to each and everyone of us and the Blessing of time spent in your presence. Your where you wanted to be and amongst some of the finest of company. There's a new star in the night sky tonight and it shines ever so brightly. Peace, love and long hugs, Jackie and David

I found great comfort in the Bible, at John 5:28&29 it gave me hope of being reunited with my loved one with what Palms 37:11 says living on a earth filled with meek ones who love one another what a wonderful time that will be. Revelation 21:4 gives us a guarantee that death will be done away with forever. I pray these scriptures will bring you comfort and hope.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to your Mom. Berva was so incredibly good to my Dad after my mother passed away. Home cooked meals by your Mom, square dancing, movies, and Bridge. They had something to do almost every night. Your Mom was a wonderful, beautiful, kind, patient, loving, and insightful woman with a great sense of humor. She was always kind and welcoming to my sister Alicia and I. My Dad’s final years would have been less rich, without her presence and friendship. Berva was a constant source of compassion and company that my Dad so needed. She was so good to him in fact that, I often wondered if my Dad was being kind enough to your wonderful mother. When my Dad got so terribly sick, your Mom stayed the night more than once to help not only him but Alicia and I as we cared for him during Hospice. It wasn’t her responsibility, but she was happy to help, even though it must have been hard to see my Dad passing, the last few days of his life. Your Mom had a sense of family and the importance there of, that I remember and keep close to my heart whenever I feel challenged by my own family. Your Mom had the gift of unconditional love. I in no way ever doubted the pride and love she had for your Dad, you, and your entire family. She loved you all and spoke of you often in a manner that left no doubt. Your Mom and Dad were good friends to my Mom and Dad. One of my favorite memories of your Mom and Dad was when they came to visit my mother in the hospital near the end of your Dad’s life. He was having difficulty walking long distances. After the visit and your mom and Dad left the room, they headed down a long hospital hall. I left the room right after them to find a bathroom. As I glanced down their direction I saw your Mom point to an abandoned wheelchair and say to your Dad “Get in There”. I think he was kind of winded because he didn’t resist and sat right down in it. The next thing I heard was him mentioning was they had stolen “This vehicle”. I stopped and just watched them proceed down the long hallway. Her pushing him in the wheelchair. They kind of giggled and he told her to watch out for something in the hallway she was getting close to. She sarcastically said, “Whose driving this stolen buggy?” then they really started laughing. She was going way to fast by the time they got to the end of the hallway. I could tell there was a lot of Love between them. I wanted to make sure you knew,… so many others were touched by your Mom, in her life. I will be forever grateful that God allowed your mother to cross my families path. Alicia, Connie, and I wish you peace as you move through this season of your Mom’s passing. She was a GREAT Woman. I will be praying for you all. With Love, Douglas Barnett

Cody, I was sadden to hear of the loss of your mother. I have not experienced the loss of a parent and can not imagine the grief you are in. I have experienced the sudden loss of a spouse and I can relate to the grief of the sudden / unexpected loss. Words may not lessen the pain, but through prayer I hope you have comfort. We are praying for you and your family, that you may take some comfort in reflecting on the wonderful memories that you have and the peace that she is with God in heaven. She has left her earthly body, but that is just temporary for all of us. She is now in her glorified body, with peace and happiness - no more pain or sorrow. I like to believe that our passed loved ones can still watch over us, just as our Lord does, that is one way that I take comfort- knowing the passed is not truly gone. Until the day that we make that journey ourselves, we will love and miss our loved ones in heaven. But rest assured this is not the end. Again, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. She was a walking example of God's grace and mercy given to someone who did not deserve it in most people's eyes. She gave forgiveness when anger and hatred would have been the normal response. In her darkest hours of grief and pain she shed mercy and forgiveness and that will always be her legacy to me. For you see, I am the mother of the person that took her son's life and yet she loved my son and myself during her own sorrow. I hope I learned from her how to extend grace for she certainly gave that to me. My heart goes out to you all!

Mike and I had been good friends for most of our lives in Odessa and later into Texas Tech and too many trips and and bar stops to mention. However, i will mention one of our barstops. We were driving around Odessa one afternoon drinking beer and passed one of the many bars on Kermit Highway, just a block or two south of Underwood’s Barbeque for those of you who knew the territory. I commented we ought to stop and shoot some shuffleboard (I think I was about 18 and Mike about 17. ) It was legal in those days to drive and drink if one was at least 14. We got our driver’s in that time by 14. Anyway, we were accepted as adults and could drink beer in any of Odessa’s bars. I digress....sorry. So, i mentioned shuffleboard and Mike commented he had never played(maybe we were 14 and 13!). So, big shot here allows as to how I will give him lessons. We stopped, went in, ordered another beer. Original Coors is what we were drinking in those days but now that Coors uses homosexuals in their ads, we quit. At any rate, i paid the machine gathered the pucks and gave a brief dissertation on the game, its rules and strategies, etc. The game began and I kicked his ass quite handily . Folks...that was the first and only game I won. He was a natural and proceeded to kick anyone’s ass that cared to play! That shows, too, how good I instructed him. I love you, Ol’ Buddy. I’ll miss you and our years together. Maybe when I get up there we can sit down with your Mom and Dad and order some steak fingers from the Flyin’ Chix!!!! They deliver, you know. God Bless you, my brother. Kb

That he would spend time on his precious Saturday (that man worked HARD M-F!) and come help us get our front yard under control... just wow. Such a good heart. He also was responsible for finding us a used washer/dryer set when we didn't have one. "I know a guy." That's what he always said. To this day we have the washer/dryer set, and I think grateful thoughts about Mr. Chris Walton. There are way more stories about his goodness. I'm so thankful we got to know him as we did. Joseph reminded me of David in the Bible. He had a heart after Gods own heart. He wasn't perfect none of us are but he loved perfectly. He never judged anyone but reached out to help those less fortunate. Joseph felt misunderstood but I saw the goodness in him not his short comings which is the way we should all learn to love one another. The Lord had been putting Joseph heavy on my heart since March 2016 so I began to pray for him and watched those prayers manifest and his life start to change before my eyes. He was so in love with Jesus and in the end was very happy. God had a plan that I didn't even know of and now he rest in his Glory! RIP JOSEPH STULTZ WE LOVE YOU!

(Psalm 34:18) Be sure to share your memories with those who surround you, for the memories shared are the ones most truly cherished, may they bring you a sense of peace and joy to your hearts as you begin to heal. He could pick up anything new and perfect it as if he had done that task forever. He was an avid sailor. I loved sailing with him and listening to Christopher Cross. Jennifer and I would be sitting on the side of the boat and dad would pull in the sail so all of the sudden we were almost totally in the water. Dad taught me how to water ski. He sat in the water with me the whole time until I got up. I skied for many years after and became good at it. Dad learned to fly planes and would take me flying with him on a Saturday. He was great at anything he put his mind to. I loved sitting around and singing with him and watching he and Uncle Kenny play dueling banjo's. I love my dad and wish could hug him and tell him now. I am sure he is watching from above. Love you Dad!!!!

And while it may seem that the pathway has stopped, it merely has rounded a bend, And our loved one goes on to a much brighter place down the pathway that has no end.

Uncle Alan was fond of music and he and Uncle Kenny would always play guitars and sing - especially anything Jimmy Buffett. Alan and Kenny nicknamed me 'Bard' when I was young. I can still here Alan calling me Bard when first seeing him on a family visit. One weekend back in the 1970s while still living at home with Mom and my siblings, we were awakened at 2:30 in the morning by the sound of the tune 'Dueling Banjos'. I opened the front door and found Alan and Kenny playing away. This was a great surprise, as they had driven a couple of hours with Uncle Larry to surprise us with a visit.

Mr. Bullock has been redeemed as he entered glory to be made whole as scriptures promises to those who love the Lord Jesus as their Savior. The first kiss and hug from the Son of God had to be amazing. The reunion when we all get to heaven has to be sweet and sweeter now that your sweet husband and dad is waiting. Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus just to take him at his Word. Jesus Jesus precious Jesus ...... God's comfort and peace in the upcoming days for your spirit and your heartbreak. It was not unexpected because the Father was expecting him all along. In Jesus name.

The year Joey graduated from GHS was a wierd and different year for the seniors. They were required to wear their shirts tucked in, trench coats and bandanas, as well as backpacks were banned. Skate boarding was not allowed on school grounds. So some of the kids were trying to find sr pranks to do that would not get them in trouble. I suggested a comical drawing of our principle Mr. Small. The last week of school I was delighted to see a bed sheet hanging from the second story railing of our principal on a skate board wearing a marijuina leafed tie, shirt untacked, smoking a cigarette. IT WAS WONDERFULL!

My heart goes out to your family. I am so sorry for your loss. What pain hurts worse than the pain of losing someone that you love? Mr. George was loved and he will be dearly missed. Again, I am so sorry. Though the pain you're feeling must seem unbearable, please remember that you are not alone. Psalms 46:1 says, "God is our refuge and strength, a help that is readily found in times of distress." Pray to Him for strength. Weep to Him when there are no words. One of the poets of the Bible said at Psalms 56:8, "You keep track of my wandering. Do collect my tears in your skin bottle." You see, God understands your pain and He cares for you very much (1 Peter 5:7). And He will really help you get through this difficult time (Isaiah 41:10).

Marla, you were my baby sister. I remember you so fondly. Growing up, I loved to run into people I knew when I was with you; you were so adorable, that I wanted people to know you were my sister. As you got older that opinion never changed. I was always so proud to be your big sister. You could charm the socks off of people. I am not saying that there weren't times that I could kick you to the curb. We fought over what tv programs to watch....I always wanted to watch The Brady Bunch and you Sesame Street. You usually got your way. You were the baby of the family. Oh how I hated THAT BIG YELLOW BIRD, he was creepy. But you just loved him, you sang all the little songs on the show. In the back of my mind I just sat in awe on how you knew all the words and just sang your heart out. Since Friday, my heart has been torn upside down. The only thing that gets me through is knowing you didn't have to make the 4 year anniversary of mama's death. I know how hard every January 12th is for all of us, especially you. You haven't been the same since she died. There was a sense of sadness that no one could ever fill. I know you are with her again. I feel a little jealous that you got to see her before me. I love you now and I always have, always will, and can't wait to see you again. I love you little sister, Kelly
