William John Fey, age 86, passed from this earthly life in his home in Granbury, Texas on Sunday, January 1, 2017, surrounded by his children.

William (Bill) was born on March 22, 1930 in New York City, NY to the late Elizabeth Mucha Fey and Harry C. Fey. Bill graduated from Southside High School in Rockville Center, NY. After faithful service in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, Bill attended Barry College in Miami, Florida (the first male to be admitted to the then, all female college!). He then attended the University of Miami and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Bill happily married Joan O’Brien on September 3, 1955 in Danville, Illinois.

Bill had a distinguished 30+ year career in forest products sales (newsprint), working with Perkins-Goodwin, Southland Paper Mill, St. Regis Paper Company, Kruger Paper, Champion Paper and retiring from International Paper Company. These were all the same company due to mergers and acquisitions, with the exception of Kruger Paper.

Bill will be missed by his children; daughter, Jenifer Fey “Jeni” Wood and husband, David, of Midland, Texas; son, William John (Jiggs) Fey, Jr and wife, Paula, of Raleigh, North Carolina, a sister, Lorry Yeager, and husband, Richard, of Port Orange, Florida, and his constant companion, Molly the Cat. Bill, also lovingly known as “Grandad”, will forever be in the hearts of his grandchildren, Conner Wood and wife, CC, Rachel Wood, Katie Fey, Molly Fey, Will Fey and wife, Laura. Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan, and oldest son, John Patrick Fey.

Bill’s volunteering pursuits included the Knights of Columbus (3rd degree Knight), the Marine Corps League (Comanche Peak Detachment) and Meals on Wheels, to name a few.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 2301 Acton Highway, Granbury, Texas on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00am. Internment, with honors, will be at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
