Mary Jewel Hall- Smith passed away peacefully October 19, 2021. Mary was born March 17th, 1940 in Waveland, AR but was raised in Lubbock where she became an LVN. She resided in Granbury over 30 years and commuted to John Peter Smith hospital until her retirement. It suited her servant heart. Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Mary Hall and her son Ricky Smith, all of Lubbock.
Mary is survived by her daughter Kim Mele of Granbury, sister Virginia Ellis of Cleburne, sister Elaine Layne and brother-in-law Wilbert Layne of Fort Worth, grandson Stephen ‘Bubba’ Mele of Fort Worth, great-granddaughter Shelby Mele of Fort Worth, grandson John Rex Smith of Lubbock, granddaughter Erica Smith of Lubbock, many extended family and lifelong friends. All of these people she loved and touched deeply.
Mary enjoyed drinking coffee and beating her sisters at gin rummy. Family and friends were very important to her and she will be missed immensely. She was a member of the Granbury Church of Christ.
Please join us celebrating her life Saturday October 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Long Creek Cemetery in Granbury, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her name.
