Celebrating the Life of Kenneth Noel Long
Kenneth Noel Long, 88, returned to his heavenly home on December 14, 2018 after a valiant battle with dementia. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Kenneth was born to the William Felix & Adelphia Burke Long, a farmer and a homemaker respectively, in Miller Grove, Texas on June 9, 1929. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. Drafted into the US Army in 1951, he served in the Korean War as a radio operator. He graduated from the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri with a degree in divinity and was an ordained pastor.
Kenneth was blessed with a large and loving family. He married the love of his live, Betty Jean Long, on April 7th, 1951 at Ft Smith, Arkansas. Together, they would become Missionaries to Mexico for 4 years. Kenneth helped everyone with patience, discipline and humility. He taught them to read, write, and love God, and often took them on family trips to see the natural beauty of Texas. From the very beginning, he dedicated his life to God and explored the beauty of the gospels.
Kenneth was a teacher at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Betty; his brother Dennis, his daughter Jane; his grandchildren Clinton and Garrett Johnson, and great grandchildren Garrett Jr, Jace, Amy, and Shelby Johnson.
Kenneth will be buried at the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolf City, Texas at 3:30 p.m. on December 27, 2018.
