Born November 3, 1928 on a farm near Mart, Texas to Guy Pleasant David and Mozelle Jarrard David. He attended Mart schools where he excelled in sports, which led him to a 4-year scholarship playing football for North Texas State University. On February 1, 1950 he married Mart High schoolmate Jackie House and the two spent most of their years in the Dallas area raising a family and as active members of Casa View Baptist Church.
Graduating in 1952 he taught Industrial Arts classes in Dallas for 2 years, before going to work for Magnolia Oil, which became Mobil Oil Company. He retired in 1987 after a 34-year career, culminating in the position as Manager of Mobil’s Technical Computer Services in Dallas, Texas. During his time in Dallas he served for many years as a Deacon at Casa View Baptist Church, as a Reserve Deputy for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office where he completed his service with the rank of Lieutenant, and as an active member of the local Ham Radio R.A.C.E.S SkyWarn organization. In retirement Harold was active in volunteering for the Dallas Chapter of the American Red Cross, enjoyed spending time on the small farm he and Jackie owned near Mart, and traveling with Jackie throughout the U.S. and many parts of the world.
Harold exhibited incredible grace, kindness and strength in battling the effects of Parkinson’s Disease which caused his passing to his Heavenly Home on January 11, 2017. He leaves behind many friends from Mart, Dallas and Granbury, his retirement home.
Harold is survived by his wife Jackie David of Granbury, his two sons, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; son Gregory and wife Vicki, grandson Jonathan and wife, Miranda, great grandchildren Owen and Elena, of Muenster, Tx, granddaughter Jennifer andRick Williams of Summerville, S.C, great grandchildren Kyle and Ryan.; son Phillip and wife Patricia of Glen Rose, Tx. , grandson Russell and wife Rachel of Tulsa, Ok..; sister Mary Martha and Jack Holder of Mart, Tx,; sister in law, Katie David of Cypress, Tx.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be Saturday morning January 14, 2017at 10:30, Martin’s Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas.
