Glenn Anthony Barton, 81, a retired rancher, died on July 13, 2014. Glenn was born June 11, 1933 in Ruidoso, New Mexico to John and Bessie Barton.
Funeral service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at First Christian Church of Granbury.
Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

Glenn Anthony Barton, 81, a retired rancher, died on July 13, 2014. Glenn was born June 11, 1933 in Ruidoso, New Mexico to John and Bessie Barton.
Funeral service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at First Christian Church of Granbury.
Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Graveside service: 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy, Weatherford, TX.

As a young boy, Glenn worked at his father’s saw mill and started riding a pet mule. He spent his life devoted to his love for horses. He loved to raise and race horses. He was named “Horsemen of the Year” in Parker County. His winning horse, Bold Epic, was his pride and joy.

He later moved with his family to Arnett, Oklahoma where he attended grade school and then later to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bessie Barton, his first wife of 25 years, Geleta (Jackie) Mae Ladd and son-in-law, Bobby Box.

Retired from the United States Army after 25 years of service where he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 04. He served two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Korea and Hawaii. He was a helicoptor pilot and instructor. He earned the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars. After his retirement he lived in Garner, Texas and later moved to Granbury.
He received his bachelors degree from Tarleton State University in Agricultural Science.
He was a 33rd degree Mason. He was a member of the lodge in Bluff Dale, TX. and served as Worshipful Master and secretary of the Millsap and Bluff Dale Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jo Barton, sisters: Alma Crouch and Peggy Krewson and her husband George of Kansas City, MO.; son, Ronald Joe Barton and his wife Jovita of Mineral Wells, TX; daughter, Debra Barton Box of Santo, TX; son, James Barton and wife, Michelle of Garner, Texas; nine grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
