Charles Edward Mathews, 82, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in Fort Worth.

Charles was born July 14, 1939 in Waco, Texas to Cecil and Eula Cox Mathews. He was a huge fan of motorsports; he was an auto enthusiast and knew so much about cars. Charles loved and enjoyed the many car shows as well as the many car races that he attended. Charles went on a total of ten cruises which the majority of were to Europe. He was a member of a Monday night bowling league and he would attend Weatherford High School football games to see his grandkids play in the band. Charles was a gentle, sweet man who took excellent care of Sylvia. Family was always very important to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Mathews; brothers, Cecil Mathews and James Mathews; son, Mike Mathews (Cynthia); son, Stacy Mathews; daughter, Joyce Mathews (Stan Pettigrew); step-son, Steve Ragsdale (Teresa); granddaughters, Jenny Conway and Michelle Mathews; grandsons, Chance Ragsdale and Lance Ragsdale; great grandkids, Sam and Brady.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm. on Wednesday; August 11, 2021 at Martins Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury.

Visitation will be from 1-2pm Wednesday one hour prior to services. Private burial will be held later at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth under the direction of Martins Funeral Home in Granbury.
